Kate Goes to School, to Help Teach Kids Self-Esteem
Originally posted 02/21/2012 10:00AM
What to wear when you go back to school? If you're the Duchess of Cambridge, it's a bird-print coat-dress.
Accessorized with brown suede ankle boots and brown tights, Kate's $600 Orla Kiely-designed walnut-colored "Birdie" wool jacquard outfit was perfect for Tuesday's crisp winter day, as she visited the Art Room facility at Rose Hill Primary School, in an economically disadvantaged section of the university town of Oxford.
Called "Miss Catherine" by the youngsters, the Duchess's charitable visit – while husband Prince William is in the Falkland Islands – involved her in a lesson to help 7- and 8-year-olds use art in overcoming such issues as low self-esteem and lack of confidence. For the occasion she also donned an apron.

Reese Witherspoon Has a Girl Crush on Kate!
Originally posted 02/17/2012 08:30AM
Even A-Listers can get star-struck.
Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon said she was so nervous about the prospect of meeting the Duchess of Cambridge at a fundraiser that she couldn't even decide what to wear.
"I must have tried on like six outfits," Witherspoon, 35, tells Ellen DeGeneres in an interview to air Friday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "I’m meeting a princess. You don’t understand. You have to be wearing the right outfit and the whole thing. I don’t know, maybe we can be friends."
Witherspoon's preparations for the event, which Prince William also attended, apparently prompted some teasing from the star's husband, Jim Toth.
"My husband just thought I was so dorky," said Witherspoon, whose new movie, This Means War, opens Friday.

Kate Immortalized in Four Designer Dresses for Madame Tussauds
Originally posted 02/16/2012 01:25PM
The Duchess of Cambridge will join her prince when she becomes immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds this spring, not once but four times.
Such is the popularity of the duchess and her enviable wardrobe, that the world famous waxwork attraction has decided to make four models of Kate, three of which will be unveiled simultaneously on April 4.
Making her debut alongside Prince William, she'll be wearing the iconic blue Issa engagement dress in London; in New York, the lilac Alexander McQueen frock from the BAFTA gala in Los Angeles; and, in Amsterdam, the black lace Temperley dress she wore to the London premiere of War Horse. A final waxwork will be unveiled at the U.K.'s Blackpool exhibition at a later date in April, for which she will be wearing Jenny Packham.
"It is the first time that we have had a member of the royal family make their debut in multiple locations," a rep for Madame Tussauds tells PEOPLE, adding, "all four designers have been involved in making the dresses and the Duke and Duchess have kept informed at every stage of the creation process."

William & Kate Made into Barbie and Ken Dolls in Time for Their Anniversary
Originally posted 02/15/2012 03:00PM
She may not be as curvy as the original, and he not as metrosexual, but the new Mattel Duke and Duchess of Cambridge versions of Barbie and Ken are regal – and just a little kitschy – enough to make any true collector drool.
The toy company is releasing the figurines in time to mark the real-life royal couple's one-year wedding anniversary, which explains why they are outfitted in their wedding finery: he in dashing red military jacket with a blue sash, and she in a mini-version of her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown, replete with tiny tiara and sapphire engagement ring, reports InStyle.
Kate's been a doll before, if you remember. Last year, the Franklin Mint issued a royal engagement edition.

Kate Gets Flowers (and a Card) for Valentine's Day
Originally posted 02/14/2012 11:35AM
Her husband may have been 7,500 miles away but the Duchess of Cambridge still received plenty of love on Valentine's Day.
William sent her a card and some flowers – and the people of Liverpool, England, added their bouquets and hugs on Tuesday.
During her 20-minute visit to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Kate, in a chocolate brown overcoat by Hobbs and earrings by Niki McDonough, received flowers from onlookers and greeted (and hugged) some young admirers.
"She was brilliant," says Lyndsey Maclean, 36, whose daughter Katie, 9, also met the duchess. "You wouldn't think she hadn't been doing this for such a short time. She was friendly to everyone."

Kate to Join Queen and Camilla at a London Tea
Originally posted 02/13/2012 07:35AM
Call it tea with Kate and the in-laws.
The Duchess of Cambridge will join her grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth, and her stepmother-in-law, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, at an official engagement at Piccadilly's flagship Fortnum and Mason's store on March 1, as "three royal ladies have tea," a royal source tells PEOPLE.
The tea party with the trio will serve as the centerpiece of an event to mark the regeneration of the London area of Piccadilly and be the first of two outings for Kate while William is serving as a Search and Rescue helicopter pilot in the Falkland Islands.

The actress, 43, is set to star in Caught in Flight, a film described as "a compelling portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales during the last two years of her life," according to BBC News.
"It is such an honor to be able to play this iconic role," British-born Watts said in a statement. "Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen."

Prince Harry Honored for His Apache Copilot Skills
Originally posted 02/08/2012 07:30PM
Prince Harry was given an award for "best copilot gunner" Wednesday as he and 20 of his fellow pilots celebrated completion of their training in Apache helicopters.
Harry, 27, was the "best front-seat pilot" – the officer who takes control of the mission and its weapons systems and sights – and given a polished 30mm round from an Apache cannon mounted on a stand as his trophy.
The end of Harry's training means he has attained limited combat-ready status, it was announced by the Defense Ministry and his office at the Palace.
A captain in the Army Air Corps, Harry will now be assigned to 662 Squadron, 3 Regiment Army Air Corps within 16 Air Assault Brigade and gain more experience in flying as a squadron.
