Simon Cowell has shown that he can dish it out – but can the no-holds-barred
Idol judge take it? During his
60 Minutes interview that aired Sunday, Cowell had the tables turned on him by correspondent Anderson Cooper. Cowell, a fan of go-kart racing, got the chance to take his first spin in an Indy car at the Mario Andretti Racing School at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. But Cowell had no idea
60 Minutes had assembled a world-class panel of racing experts – Kurt Busch (a former NASCAR champ), Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip and Andretti himself – to critique the
Idol judge's motor skills.
The consensus? It was a low-octane performance. "It was just bloody awful," Andretti said. And the other "judges" were equally unimpressed. "It's just so sad that a man who wants something as bad as you do looked like a drunk going to get more liquor," Waltrip told him. And Busch chimed in: "You really just see the lack of talent."
Still, the harsh criticism – even offered in good fun – didn't seem to faze the Teflon-coated Cowell. "Is that it?" he asked. "Well, I disagree." Talk about a tough critic!
