India's Not Voting for Sanjaya
From hunger strikes to support from teary young fans, 17-year-old Sanjaya Malakar and his ever-changing dos have gotten people talking Idol nonstop. But contrary to one popular theory, the Top 8 contestant isn't earning the support from the Indian community, reports the Associated Press.

Outside of a few brief newspaper articles and blog mentions, Sanjaya (whose father is Indian) is virtually unknown in the South Asian nation, says the AP. With Idol broadcasting a day late in India – and on an English-language channel that attracts a small viewership for a country of 1.1 billion – the voting lines are no longer open. And as for the idea that Indian call center workers are dialing in their votes, the AP points out that these centers operate with automatic phones – meaning no calling in votes. So, it seems the Federal Way, Wash., resident can thank his "fanjayas" right here at home for keeping him in the competition.
