What has season 5's Paris Bennett been up to these days? Apparently, a lot. PEOPLE recently caught up with the 18-year-old singer at the Star-Studded Autograph Session for Los Angeles Youth event co-sponsored by
American Idol and McDonald's, where she told us she's prepping for her debut album
Princess P, due out May 8. "It's really just me being me, and sharing with the world who I am," says the former Idol contestant.
And Bennett was more than happy to start sharing her time with the local kids at the event. "What kid doesn’t like McDonald’s?" she said. "I have two little brothers, so I spend, like, 80% of my life [in Mickey D's.]" One item in particular on the fast-food menu that has Bennett's seal of approval is the new
American Idol-inspired Happy Meal toys. "These are great because they are realistic," she said. "When I’m onstage, I use a microphone or headset, so these are things that you would actually use if you were a singer. It allows kids to act like they are on the show as well."
