Bring on the Moonmen!

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Here's what we're looking forward to:

1. Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson's confirmed appearance at the VMAs has fans eager to catch a glimpse of the Twilight heartthrob. Although Kristen Stewart will be at the Toronto Film Festival promoting her latest film, On the Road, Pattinson and costar Taylor Lautner will be on stage Thursday night to introduce 90 seconds of never-before-seen footage from Breaking Dawn: Part 2.

2. Taylor Swift's performance
After a summer spent romancing Conor Kennedy, Taylor Swift will perform her new single, "We're Never Ever Getting Back Together" live for the first time. Will Kennedy, a senior at a boarding school on the east coast, accompany Swift to the show? If so, Kennedy, 18, will have to deal with more than just posing for photos. Swift's ex-boyfriends, John Mayer, Taylor Lautner and Joe Jonas may also be there.

3. John Mayer and Katy Perry
After a short-lived romance, John Mayer and Katy Perry were spotted together again on Tuesday. A pal of Perry's told PEOPLE, "They are seeing each other again." Does that mean they'll appear at the show together?

4. Host Kevin Hart
Comedian Kevin Hart has promised to deliver the laughs at this year's show. "The beauty of me being the host is you don't know what to expect," the host, 32, told reporters at a press conference Tuesday. "Nobody is off limits. I think it's my job to put the room in a place where people can relax and have a good time. And the best way to do that is to show people they can poke fun at themselves."

5. The red carpet
From fearless fashion to major announcements, there's no greater entrance than walking the red carpet at the VMAs.
