Jane Lynch on the Emmy Awards
As Sue Sylvester, Jane Lynch spits out sass with the same ease costar Lea Michele
hits high notes on Glee
But even without her signature red tracksuit – or a gaggle of Gleeks by her side – the host
and outstanding supporting actress nominee, 51, spared no prisoners with her snark at Sunday night's Primetime Emmy Awards
live from L.A.'s Nokia Theatre.
But was her wit a hit? Check out her best moments, then tell us how Lynch fared as Emmy host:
Lynch opened the show on a high note with an opening number co-starring Mad Men
's Jon Hamm
, The Big Bang Theory
's Jim Parsons and Entourage
's Jeremy Piven.
"[TV is] a world where high school students look roughly 24," she sang, poking fun at her Fox sitcom. And she faced off with her Gleek alter-ego – a messy encounter thanks to a blue slushie.
Explaining her "gay agenda," Lynch, who is married to
psychologist Lara Embry, joked that she was going to "call Rachel Maddow, and find out what time spinning is; [and] take the pick-up in for an oil change." The joke continued later in the show: "A lot of people are very curious why I am a lesbian," she deadpanned before saying: "Ladies and gentlemen, the cast of Entourage
And how did Lynch prep for her big night? Lots of GTL, of course. The host got in touch with her inner Jersey Girl as alter-ego Donatella with the help of the Jersey Shore
gang. "I found Vinny [Guadagino] living in a walk-in freezer at a pizzeria," she said, bronzed with Cheetos dust. "You're one of my chosen ones," she said to Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi.
Never one to shy away from her sexy side
, Lynch wasn't afraid to get racy during her routine. "A lot of people wonder what happens after the show," she told the audience before introducing a performance by the Lonely Island and Michael Bolton. "Clothes come off, and it's a big sweaty pile. We turn the cameras to the wall and we love."
