Gardening clogs for Kate? Not exactly.

Just days after the Duchess of Cambridge, 29, planted a tree with Prince William, 29, to symbolize their love, the brunette beauty got into the dirt again, digging a hole for a shrub.

And she did it in high style, wearing high heels with her short Malene Birger cream linen dress, on the royal couple's visit to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, in Canada.

But while Kate didn't shy from the shovel, she drew the line at sports. When she was offered the chance to take a shot at a street hockey match in Canada, the former school hockey player was tempted to join husband William in showing off her skills.

But despite being egged on by the crowd at Yellowknife who called out, "Take a shot, take a shot," she had a dignified, princess-like excuse.

"She told me that she would have taken a shot if she wasn't in heels," reports Gloria Francis, 16, who was one of the young people playing hockey in front of Kate and William on the bank of Frame Lake.

Kate instead dropped the bright orange ball for the game to start – saying, "Ready, steady, go" – after William had taken some practice shots, including one wayward shot which hit a cameraman who'd sat behind the goal.

The couple were also given a bright red jersey each – emblazoned with the name Cambridge on the back.
