The grandmother of the woman found dead at Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham country estate on New Year's Day has made a heartfelt tribute to her as the family appeals for help in finding her killer.

Lidija Nesterova, 62, says the family of Alisa Dmitrijeva, 17, are in a "state of grief and sorrow" and lament how they will never know how "bright her future might have been."

The police discovery of the young woman's body immediately launched a murder investigation.

In a statement issued by the detectives connected to the case, Nesterova added, "Alisa had just finished college and I proudly look after her certificates which she never knew she achieved. She went missing just before they were delivered."

Detectives say that since the body was identified they have received 70 calls and messages, and they are focusing their investigation on a key week beginning Aug. 30. They also want to find her black LG GM360 mobile phone, and hear about any sightings of her green Lexus GS300 that she was last seen in on Aug. 31.
