You expected her to attend Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding. You didn't expect her at John and Frances Canning's!

But sure enough, there was Queen Elizabeth, 85, dropping in on the commoners' nuptials in Manchester this weekend – taking them up on an invitation they sent on a lark, although Her Majesty did not RSVP first.

"Basically it was a wedding gift for us," Frances Canning said, according to CNN.

Amateur video from the wedding shows the gobsmacked Cannings, moments after their I do's, greeting the Queen and Prince Philip in the receiving line.

The couple invited the Queen on a whim after learning that she would be in Manchester on their big day, as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour.
