Duchess of Cambridge Spent $55,000 on Clothes: Reports

Not one to shy away from recycling her favorite pieces or shopping her closet, she's been photographed in familiar and envy-worthy fashions since before her wedding.
But sometimes her high-end attire can come with a price tag – a $55,000 one, a new U.K. report suggests. And, the story says, her father-in-law, Prince Charles, foots the bill.
With Charles due to make his spending records available to the public this week – the first time since Kate married into the Royal Family – the Daily Mail reports that Prince William doesn't actually handle his wife's designer bills because of his income of about $69,000 a year for his work in the Royal Air Force. (He did, however, come into his $15.5 million inheritance from his late mother Princess Diana when he turned 30 June 21.)
Charles, the Daily explains, made about $30 million last year from the Duchy of Cornwall, a private estate of land and property holdings he uses to fund his public work. His official expenditure budget rings in at nearly $18 million, which he applies toward the Duchess's wardrobe – for work-related affairs only, of course.
So what were some of the Duchess's big purchases? Celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in style, Kate, 30, donned a pleated red Alexander McQueen dress and a long-sleeved nude lace McQueen sheath, which were reportedly about $1,850 each. Then there was her suddenly sexy emerald Jenny Packham gown she dazzled in at London's Royal Albert Hall in May, which reportedly set Charles back about $3,200.
And that Emilia Wickstead pink coat dress she wore for a special lunch with the Queen at Windsor Castle earlier this summer? $2,000. (But she did wear it twice in less than two weeks!)
Whether or not the math is correct, the Duchess still gets major style points for her honeymoon ensemble, an $80 dress from Zara.
