The word "princess" usually calls to mind floor-length gowns, dramatic up-dos and jaw-dropping jewelry. But Princess Eugenie – daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, and sixth in line to the throne – wore an entirely different outfit Wednesday: a graduation cap and gown.
Eugenie, who recently received a degree
from Newcastle University, looked positively regal in her regalia when she was snapped at her commencement ceremony on July 11.
Donning the school's traditional cap and gown, she beamed at the camera and clutched her new degree in English and history of art.
"Newcastle University has given me such an incredible three years," she said. "I have had a wonderful time ... learning and having a fantastic experience."
Eugenie, 22, plans to join sister Beatrice, 23, in the working world soon.
The two princesses also intend to do part-time work at the "family firm" – that is, the business of handling royal responsibilities.
