Babies born on the same day as the Duchess of Cambridge's are in line for a lucky present – a silver coin.

The Royal Mint, which has been making the British coinage for around 1,000 years, is giving away 2,013 pieces of currency to babies born as Kate's child takes its first breath.

The offer of the solid silver coin is open to any child born in the U.K. on the date, but is capped at 2,013. With an average of 2,000 children delivered daily in the U.K., the Royal Mint should be able to satisfy everyone who asks and can prove their baby was born on the big day.

The coin – which comes in a pink or blue pouch and normally costs $43 – is engraved with the year 2013 and a shield of the Royal Arms.

"The birth of the royal baby will be a joyous occasion not just for [the couple] but also for the whole nation, as we prepare to celebrate another remarkable milestone in their life journey together," Shane Bissett, Director of Commemorative Coin at the Royal Mint, said in a statement.

"It will also be a special day for many mothers and fathers across the country as they too welcome the arrival of their new baby, hence why we wanted to extend this historical moment to them with a lucky silver penny."

Parents can get in touch with the Royal Mint through their Facebook page any time within 60 days following their child's birth to claim one of the coins.
