The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's love is the genuine article, says their engagement photographer Mario Testino.

Testino recently revealed the full story behind the famous portrait, in which William and Kate display genuine smiles and an affectionate embrace (not to mention, show off the ring!).

"I waited a long time, an hour or two, to make that picture perfect," says Testino in an interview with the U.K. edition of Vogue. "But I wasn't totally satisfied. Then, when I'd finished the shoot, they were about to leave and they suddenly hugged in front of a radiator. I took my camera and that was the picture that ran everywhere – it was spontaneous emotion … you could see they were completely in love."

Not that there was ever any question. The famed fashion photographer says he could tell the couple were headed for the altar when he first met Kate in 2008: [William was] in love ... I knew they would stay together."
