Prince George was taken to watch his dad play polo Sunday – but it appeared all he wanted to do was slide down a grassy bank.

George, 23 months, was in the country to watch Prince William and Prince Harry play at the Festival of Polo at the Beaufort Polo Club in Tetbury, England. During the match, George stayed close to mom Princess Kate and spent time with royal playmates Mia Tindall, the daughter of William's cousin Zara, and Savannah and Isla, the daughters of Zara's brother Peter Phillips and his wife, and Autumn. (George's 1-month-old sister, Princess Charlotte, was apparently not brought along for the family outing.)

Photographer James Whatling says, "[George] was playing on the bank. He was walking up the steps and then tried sliding down the bank. The older ones like Savannah was doing it so he wanted to do it too.

"He was sliding down and Kate joined him, trying to support him as he did."

The lively toddler also tried his hand at picking up a polo mallet and trying to hit a polo ball, and when he spotted a white ball, he kicked it. At one point, as he dashed out to the ball, Kate ran after him as he was getting close to the polo ground.

George, who wore a family heirloom to watch the flypast at Buckingham Palace during Saturday's Trooping the Colour, was dressed for summer Sunday. He had navy shorts and a neat cardigan. And gone were his famous knee socks and in were those ubiquitous shoes of summer: Crocs.

The polo field is just a short drive from grandpa Prince Charles's country home, Highgrove. And, with it being so close, Charles, 66, also made sure he was there to see his sons, and catch up with the extended group of younger royals on the sidelines.
