When you're a prince, you can expect more than just cake on your second birthday.

Prince George, who got an official birthday portrait taken by top photographer Mario Testino, was feted with "Happy Birthday" by the Grenadier Guards band outside Buckingham Palace Wednesday.

But unless his parents showed him the clip from the official Palace twitter account, the bearskin-hat wearing guards were well out of earshot for the little prince.

That's because he is celebrating his birthday 110 miles north, at his family's country home Anmer Hall, on great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham estate.

George's big day was also marked on Wednesday lunchtime with a peal of bells at Westminster Abbey – the landmark church where his parents Prince William and Kate wed in 2011. And the official British Monarchy twitter also sent birthday wishes to the feisty future king.
