We've had the perfect chocolate pie and the cutest royal family portrait yet. But the occasion of Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday has also gifted us with an array of fascinating insights into the royal family thanks to the Queen's children and grandchildren opening up in a series of interviews leading up to the big day on Thursday. "I still view her more as the Queen than my grandmother," Prince Harry recently shared. "You have this huge amount of respect for your boss and I always view her as my boss, but occasionally as a grandmother."

2. Prince William is waiting to tell George about his destiny.
George, 2, doesn't have far to go to nab the British throne, but, for now, William wants his firstborn to enjoy a carefree childhood.

William said in one of the birthday interviews that he wants to keep "a secure, stable environment around" George, so he and Princess Kate are waiting to tell him about his royal lineage, according to the BBC.

"There'll be a time and a place to bring George up and understand how he fits in, in the world," he explained.

3. The royals are really just a "normal" family.
The Windsors are just like us! William insisted during the same interview that "within our family unit, we are a normal family."

"I love my children in the same way any father does, and I hope George loves me the same way any son does to his father," the royal dad shared. "We are very normal in that sense."

4. William isn't shy about hard work.
William also shut down any speculation about his workload, noting that he'd be the "first person to put my hand up" when it is time to carry out more royal duties.

"I'm going to get plenty of criticism over my life time," he told the BBC. "It's something I don't completely ignore, but it's not something I take completely to heart. I'm concentrating very much on my role as a father. I'm a new father and I take my duties and my responsibilities to my family very seriously. I want to bring my children up as good people, with the idea of service and duty to others as very important.

"But if I can't give my time to my children as well, then I worry about my future."
