Throughout their five years as husband and wife, the couple has stepped out in support of numerous charitable causes, from animal conservation to addiction rehabilitation. In the past year, mental health awareness and understanding has become a "major priority" for them, a rep for Kensington Palace told PEOPLE.
At this event, William and Kate met with young people who have struggled with mental health problems. Speaking with them, William called the young people the "real heroes."
Though the day's topic was serious, there were clearly a few lighthearted moments between the couple. Claudia Denington, a volunteer for MIND, the group that sponsored the event, said they were relaxed and at ease throughout.
"Before they walked in it was really nerve wracking but as soon as they were sitting down it felt completely normal," she said. "I kept doing a double take! But they really put everyone at ease. They genuinely wanted to hear about our personal experiences."
They're still crusading for the cause: Along with Prince Harry, they're partnering to support Heads Together, another mental health charity.
