It was back-to-school time at McKinley High, and some new faces showed up and showed off their musical chops. Pop sensation Charice performed twice as Sunshine Corazon, singing "Telephone" with Rachel in the ladies' room and then "Listen" for her glee club audition, before deciding to transfer to Vocal Adrenaline.
Sam Evans, another new student, impressed Finn and Artie when he sang "Billionaire" during an informal audition. But when he failed to show up for the real thing, Finn – who'd just been kicked off the football team for trying to help Artie to play – found out it was because he's quickly climbing the social ladder as the new quarterback.
The glee club veterans were hardly playing second fiddle, though. To create buzz about their tryouts, the whole group sang "Empire State of Mind" in the school courtyard. And Rachel had her big moment when she sang "What I Did For Love" in the auditorium after Finn told her the glee club blamed her for losing the promising talents of Sunshine.
