A funeral for the singer, 48, who died in Beverly Hills on Saturday, is expected to happen later this week in Newark, N.J., according to NBC New York.
Houston's body was released on Monday and the funeral is reportedly being arranged by Whigham Funeral Home.
Whigham would not confirm or deny the report to PEOPLE, but according to New Jersey's The Star-Ledger, Wingham handled the arrangements for multiple family members of Houston's, including Arthur Lee Warrick, the mother of Dionne Warwick, Houston's cousin, and for Ann Drinkard.
Mourners have already gathered and left flowers and signs outside of the Newark church where Houston began singing as a child in the choir.
