If you're like me, you've been watching the Summer Olympics as much as you can.

The incredible athletic performances are made even more impressive to watch by the incredible physiques the athletes possess.

I'll never forget watching the 1988 summer games in Seoul, Korea, when sprinter Ben Johnson shattered the 100-meter sprint record (only to test positive for steroids later that day).

While I can't remember his exact time, I do remember how ridiculously chiseled he was. So much so, it inspired me to start working out.



From hurdler David Oliver's ripped triceps to swimmer Dara Torres's shredded six-pack abs (which look more like an eight-pack) and American sweetheart/gymnast Shawn Johnson's chiseled butt to NBA Champion/MVP LeBron James's massive shoulders, for me, the Olympics is as much a display of perfect (hard-earned) bodies as it physical performance.

While we may not be able to jump as high, run as fast, or swim as long as an Olympian, we sure can try to look (almost) as good as one!



Try these simple tips, and before you know it, you will surely "look" like a word class athlete.

Train Every Day
Most Olympians do something nearly every day in preparation for the Olympics. Some days are for conditioning; some for technique.

Focus on Your Goal
Never lose track of why you're training. For an Olympian, it's a medal. For you, it may be to look good in a bikini.

Keep Your Training Specific
No need for you to do activities that won't help you achieve your goal. Specificity will help you be more efficient with your time and energy.

Eat to Win
While Olympians eat to help their performance (a win for them), you need to eat to look amazing (a win for you).

Listen to Your Body
If something hurts more or longer than it should, back off and rest. If it persists, see a doctor.

Perfect Your Technique
Proper form is essential to staying injury-free – and hitting the right muscles during training.

Strength in Numbers
A friend (or spouse) can make for a great training partner. You will push each other and create some accountability.
