Gabby Douglas Shows Off Gold Medal to Michelle Obama on Tonight Show
After captivating the nation during the Olympics, gold medalist Gabby Douglas appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Monday.
Douglas – who told Leno she "definitely" plans to compete in the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro – carried her two gold medals on stage, giving one to Leno and one to fellow guest, Michelle Obama.
Douglas made history when she won the all-around gymnastics competition at the Olympics, making the young athlete the first African-American woman to do so. She also won gold in the team final alongside fellow Team USA gymnasts Jordyn Wieber, McKayla Maroney, Alexandra Raisman and Kyla Ross.
With the London Games finished, Douglas admitted she celebrated her victories by indulging in fast food.
"You're setting me back, Gabby," Obama, who is a health advocate, teased.
"Sorry!" Douglas replied.
Leno later asked the gymnast if winning gold at the Olympics was everything she had dreamed.
"I think it's very different and when I mean 'different,' it's in a better way. I mean, I never thought I would be doing the show with the First Lady, or even you, Jay," she said.
