The Scream Queens star and nominee, 57, brought daughter Annie Guest, 29, as her date for the 2016 Golden Globes.
"It's really nice because you're going with a girlfriend instead of a child," Curtis says about her grown-up daughter.
Curtis, along with husband Christopher Guest, adopted Annie from her birth mother just after she was born in Dec. 1986.
"We were awakened in the middle of the night with the phone call announcing that she was born," Curtis told PEOPLE in 1991.

But Curtis says the first time she and Guest met Annie was messy: "She threw up when she saw me. She rolled over, looked at me, and went. 'Waaah!' "
Curtis later held back tears when Rancic brought up her late mother, Janet Leigh, to whom Curtis paid homage in a November episode of Scream Queens. Leigh, who passed away in 2004, starred in the iconic shower scene in Psycho, which Curtis recreated.
"My mom's been gone a long time, we're moving forward," Curtis says. "It was nice to do that in honor of her."
Curtis is up for best actress in a television comedy for her role in Ryan Murphy's slasher comedy, and says she's thrilled to be at the Golden Globes along with her daughter.
"It's great to be here representing my show," said the actress. "It's great to be here with my girl."
