The wait is almost over for Blake Shelton fans.

On Tuesday, the country star will release his new single "Came Here to Forget," off his highly anticipated 12th studio album.

"I've had a lot of music over the years but I don't think I've ever had a song before that's such a direct look into my life," he says in a press release. "That's why I'm so excited about this particular song."

The song – written by Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan – is "an intimate snapshot of a couple's encounter at a bar," according to the release.

Shelton has been teasing fans about new music since last summer. "Wrote a song so important to me I can't believe it.. Thank you Jon Randall and @JessiLAlexander," he Tweeted in August, one month after his divorce from Miranda Lambert.

It's been a busy season for the Grammy-nominated singer, who's a coach on the current season of NBC's singing competition The Voice (his girlfriend and former Voice coach Gwen Stefani is advising his team), on a tour and set to host the Nickelodeon's 2016 Kids' Choice Awards on March 12.
