Tyga's Realtor Addresses Rapper's Ongoing Financial Problems: 'The Rent Gets Paid on Time … It's Been Nothing But Positive'

Tyga may have recently been embroiled in a legal battle over allegedly unpaid rent, but according to his current realtor, he's caused no problems as a tenant.

PEOPLE caught up with The Agency's James Harris, star of Bravo's Million Dollar Listing: Los Angeles, who has leased the rapper three homes – including a $35,000-per-month pad above Los Angeles' Sunset Strip, where he currently resides – and said Tyga "gets a bad rep in the media" but is actually a "great tenant and very respectful."

In case you're not caught up, Tyga, 26, has been making headlines for his financial woes lately: Last summer, he was sued by his previous landlord for $70,000 in unpaid rent – he countered with a breach of contract lawsuit – and TMZ reported last November that he tried to buy a $10 million mansion near girlfriend Kylie Jenner in Calabasas, California, but wasn't able to close the deal after entering escrow three times. Also, the state claimed last September that he owes more than $19,000 in back taxes from 2009, 2010 and 2011, and court documents obtained by PEOPLE reveal he filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy back in December 2010.

As for Tyga's current financial situation, Harris said, "I can only tell you a lot of what I'm seeing is [bulls---]. Look, I don't know what he's got in the bank, but I can assure you he's not looking at houses to waste his time or mine."

"He's a tenant in one of our properties now and I have not had one complaint," Harris continued. "The rent gets paid on time and the landlord loves him, so I can only speak from my experience, and it's been nothing but positive."

"The guy gets a really bad rep in the press – that's for sure," he added. "He seems to be doing just fine to me."

The Million Dollar Listing agent estimated Tyga's budget to be around $10 million: "The house we showed Tyga [on The Late Late Show] was actually $13 million, which we then price reduced to $10 million and sold for $9.6 million, not to Tyga ... but I would say that's probably up to where he's looking."

Harris also shed some light onto Tyga's personality and the fun-loving side viewers saw during the hilarious Late Late Show sketch with host James Corden.

"What a character he is. I think people take him very seriously because he doesn't smile that much, but he's actually hysterical," Harris said. "He's laid-back, always cracking jokes – he's like one of the boys. We're good friends and we've been looking at a lot of properties this year, so this just tied perfectly into the segment because we were going to look at the house anyway and then we were shooting this piece, so it just aligned perfectly."

As for Corden? He "had a field of producers on the floor laughing," Harris said. "He's an absolute genius and he does it with his eyes closed!"

And while Jenner, 18, didn't make an appearance during that particular showing, the rapper does sometimes bring her along.

"He always comes with his boys, and every house he's seen he always comes with his boys, but she has been there in the past," Harris said.
