Country music lost one of its sweetest souls Friday night – Joey Feek of hit duo Joey + Rory.
Feek was fighting fatal cancer for years as her other half – husband Rory – documented her battle on his blog This Life I Live.
After meeting in Bluebird Café in Nashville 14 years ago, the couple wed just two months later.
"Rory was singing 'In the Round' at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville with three other songwriters," Joey told PEOPLE in February. "I was just one of dozens of people in the audience that night. From the first song Rory sang, I fell head over heels for him."
Country music fans' hearts were also soon captured with their sweet gospel tunes.
The couple appeared on the CMT's singing competition show Can You Duet in 2008, singing "Cheater, Cheater" – the single of their debut album The Life of a Song.
You can see the love in their eyes while performing "Let It Be Me", a song about their endearing relationship.
The couple had love for not only each other, but also their fans. In "This Song's For You" they sing a tribute with Zac Brown Band to the hardworking people of America.
Released in 2012, Joey sings of life when she is gone and how Rory will continue to live without her.
