Drew Barrymore appears to be taking her split from Will Kopelman in stride and was spotted smiling while out with a good friend on April 9 in Los Angeles.
A source says that Barrymore has hired high-profile attorney Laura Wasser to handle her divorce. Wasser has represented other A-list stars such as Jennifer Garner (in her divorce from Ben Affleck, Maria Shriver (in her divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Denise Richards (in her divorce from Charlie Sheen).

As for the division of Barrymore and Kopelman's assets, New York divorce attorney Nancy Chemtob, who does not represent either party, tells PEOPLE, "I cannot imagine there was not a prenup – therefore, this case would not be in court."
Instead, the former couple will most likely sort out the details of their divorce privately – and those who know them best do not expect a custody battle. "They fundamentally agree on everything when it comes to their girls," a family source tells PEOPLE in this week's cover story.
"I would suspect that these young people would want to have a joint custody arrangement," Marilyn B. Chinitz, a Manhattan-based divorce attorney, tells PEOPLE. "And because [the kids are] small at this point and they've not yet been in school, they have that flexibility."
She adds: "The court will look to balance so that both parents will have access to the children and both parents can enjoy raising the children, because those children deserve both parents."
