Kelly Ripa 'Glad' She Had 'a Few Days Away' as She Prepares to Return to Live! After Weeklong Absence, Source Says

Kelly Ripa is gearing up for her return to Live! after last week's bombshell announcement that her co-host Michael Strahan is leaving the show.

A source tells PEOPLE that "having a few days away from things was very helpful" for Ripa, who has been noticeably absent from the ABC talk show since Strahan revealed Tuesday that he would be joining the network's Good Morning America as a full time co-anchor in September.

Of Ripa, 45, whom multiple sources told PEOPLE last week was "completely blindsided" by the news, the source says "she is glad she had the time with [her husband] Mark [Consuelos] to celebrate their anniversary and to think about things with the show."

The source says "there has been great support from both men and women who have seen this type of situation happen to people," and that "was really gratifying to her."

"She'll be all set to go tomorrow," adds the insider.

PEOPLE previously exclusively confirmed Ripa, 45, would be returning to Live! Tuesday.

The star sent an email to her staff late Friday night, writing, "I wanted to thank you all for giving me the time to process this new information. Your kindness, support and love has overwhelmed me. We are a family and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday morning."

On Monday's episode of the morning talk show, which Strahan hosted with guest co-host Shay Mitchell, Strahan said the whole team was "excited" to have Ripa back Tuesday.

Another insider previously told PEOPLE Strahan, 44, "never wanted any of this to happen."

"He got why she was mad but it was out of his control. He spent the last few days reaching out because he wanted her to come back," said the source. "He was prepared to go on by himself if he had to, but he is relieved that it all worked out."

Live! With Kelly and Michael airs weekdays (check local listings).
