On Monday, the Watch What Happens Live host and close friend of Ripa didn't hold back as he discussed Strahan's shocking departure from Live!, during his weekly show Andy Cohen Live on SiriusXM's Radio Andy.
"The two of them had such great chemistry," said Cohen. "I'm just looking at this like it's a premature end to a great relationship."
He added, "it just ended way too prematurely" and that it feels as though Ripa, 45, and Strahan, 44, are going through a "big, bad breakup."
"The job of co-hosting Live! is the greatest job in TV," said Cohen. "It's a job that you take and you take it for life. You keep that job and you don't go anywhere."
Cohen also addressed Ripa's return to her morning show.
"I am really looking forward to tomorrow morning on LIVE!," the 47-year-old said. "I can't wait to hear what she says."
PEOPLE exclusively confirmed Ripa, would be returning to Live! after a nearly week-long absence following Strahan's announcement that he was leaving their morning show for Good Morning America in September.
On Monday, Strahan sat alongside guest co-host Shay Mitchell and told the LIVE! audience that Ripa "had a scheduled day off to celebrate her 20th anniversary" with husband Mark Consuelos.
"She's going to be back tomorrow, which we are all excited about," he added.
Live! With Kelly and Michael airs weekdays (check local listings).
