Kathie Lee Gifford to Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan: 'Be Professional' Despite the Live! Drama

Former Live! co-host, Kathie Lee Gifford, has some sound advice for Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan: Be professional.

Ripa's predecessor appeared on Fox11 to weigh in on Strahan's shocking departure from Live! for a new role at Good Morning America.

"Be totally professional," said Gifford, 62. "I would keep anything that is going on between you private. It's nobody's business but yours. But always, always be professional at your job. That's what you're hired to do."

Seeming to fall in line with that advice, neither Ripa, 45, nor Strahan, 44, addressed on Wednesday's show the news PEOPLE exclusively broke that his departure date has been moved up to May 13 – four months earlier than his previously announced September sign-off.

In fact, the co-hosts walked on the Live! set holding hands and smiling on both Tuesday and Wednesday's shows, which followed a tense, weeklong break for Ripa after she was "blindsided" by Strahan's decide to move to Good Morning America permanently.

On Tuesday, Rip acknowledged her return by addressing the entire situation solo and saying it had "started a greater conversation about communication, consideration and, most importantly, respect in workplace."

Live! With Kelly and Michael airs weekdays (check local listings).
