The actor set his sights on the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor at Sunday's Academy Awards, but it seems the focus of the Twitterverse was elsewhere: on Hardy's wife, actress Charlotte Riley.
The two stepped out on Hollywood's most famous red carpet, both donning black ensembles, outside the Dolby Theatre. Hardy, 38, donned a simple black, three-piece tuxedo with a bowtie while Riley opted for a more glamorous look – and the Internet definitely noticed.
The actress, who delivered her first child last fall, wore a floor-length gown with lace on top. The gown featured a plunging neckline, and Riley, 34, topped off the look with a bold red lip.

Hardy and Riley met on the set of a British TV adaptation of Wuthering Heights, became engaged in 2010 and wed quietly in 2014.
Hardy didn't take home the gold statuette for his role in The Revenant – Mark Rylance won for Bridge of Spies – but Hardy went home a winner nonetheless, thanks to Riley.
The 88th annual Oscars, hosted by Chris Rock, are being presented live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.
