Sorry J. Law, Leo and Brie: The biggest stars at the 2016 Academy Awards were not actually humans.

Star Wars droids C-3PO, R2-D2 and BB-8 took the Oscars stage to present the award for Best Original Score … and were possibly the most well-received attendees of the night. Take 9-year-old Room actor Jacob Tremblay jumping out of his seat to get a better look at them (which, of course, melted the Internet's heart).

The iconic droids brought out the inner Jacob Tremblay in a bunch of other A-listers, too, who schmoozed (and took selfies) with the robots.

Lady Gaga's fiancé Taylor Kinney needs to watch out – her chemistry with R2-D2 was electric.

Reese Witherspoon, on the other hand, cozied up to BB-8 for this precious selfie.

Clearly the most popular of all the droids, BB-8 also kicked it with Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner after the ceremony.

The metallic threesome presented the award for Best Original Score, for which Star Wars: The Force Awakens was nominated. The nomination was the 50th for John Williams, who has won five Oscars. However the award went to 87-year-old The Hateful Eight composer Ennio Morricone; it was his sixth nomination and first win.
