Since 1999, group acts have won best pop video only four times: 'N Sync in 2000 and 2001 and No Doubt in 2002 and 2004. But 2012 could be the game changer: This year's awards are fan-voted, meaning legions of One Direction fans could usher the first-time nominees onto the podium in a category previously dominated by solo female artists such as Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Pink and Kelly Clarkson.
