Who? Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins
Known for: setting the foundation upon which all boy bands would be built
Guided by Maurice Starr, New Edition released a string of super-happy pop music in the early '80s, which was probably the only time you could talk about junk food and romance in the same song. ("Popcorn Love" and "Candy Girl" were hits.) Apart from cavities, they also spawned the hip-hop supergroup Bell Biv Devoe, and, of course, Bobby Brown.
