HAPPY DAYS

On Jan. 15, 1974, Richie Cunningham and his crew brought viewers back to a simpler time – the 1950s. The show, starring Ron Howard as wholesome Richie and Henry Winkler as the supercool Fonzie, quickly became a hit, spawning popular catchphrases ("Ayyyyy!" "Sit on it!"), as well as several spin-offs, including Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy. The comedy was so influential that the term "jump the shark" was born from an episode in which Fonzie attempts to waterski over the giant fish.
