Brad talks shop, Jennifer Hudson relishes revenge, the Desperate Housewives use the bathroom buddy system, and more.

4:49 p.m. – With just ten minutes left in her broadcast, Vanessa Minnillo steals sips of champagne in between segments for Entertainment Tonight. (But unlike her last big live event, she didn't let any f-bombs slip.)

4:59 p.m. – Just a minute before showtime, Will Ferrell and Alec Baldwin greet each other at the entrance to the ballroom with a big hug – and cause a minor traffic jam.

5:01 p.m. – Fresh from her best supporting actress win for Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson holds up her Golden Globe in the press room and says, "You like my award, Simon?" (The American Idol judge was famously cruel to the Season 3 contestant, telling her she'd never make it.)

5:49 p.m. – Hugh Laurie's jokes start even before he wins best actor. He said that the press line was a breeze, because he surfed the wake of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner "like an old plastic bag, bogging along," Laurie quipped.

6:19 p.m. – While ex-girlfriend Cameron Diaz was presenting onstage, Justin Timberlake chats with author Dominick Dunne – who came as Sharon Stone's date. (He did not look up.)

6:20 p.m. – A mini-Friends reunion breaks out on the smoking patio, where Matthew Perry had an intense conversation with Courteney Cox (wearing her husband David's jacket to brave the 45º chill) and Sheryl Crow. Arquette, meanwhile, carried his wife's purse in his back pocket, laughing with friends about being her "bag-handler."

6:32 p.m. – Backstage in the press room, an always regal Helen Mirren lets out a very uncharacteristic, "Oh yeah!" when the Ugly Betty cast accepts the Globe for Best Comedy.

7:01 p.m. – Desperate Housewives costars Eva Longoria and Nicolette Sheridan, walking hand-in-hand, bump into Rosanna and Patricia Arquette as the sisters make their way to the bathroom two hours into the show. Eva giggled, gesturing to the bathroom and saying, "We just came back!" (Guess it's true that all women really do hit the ladies' room together.)

7:02 p.m. – Weeds star Mary Louise Parker and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (who famously played Denny on Grey's Anatomy) make an appearance on the patio, with Jeffrey – who appears on Weeds as the deceased Judah Botwin – chivalrously lifting the train of her dress.

7:41 p.m. – Sacha Baron Cohen slips out through a side exit, but stops to tell a Globes official, "Thanks for the award!" He later hits the Paramount party and chats up Steven Spielberg.

7:48 p.m. – Backstage, Brad Pitt grabs some drinks for himself and Babel director Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu. The pair spent the next five minutes in a deep conversation despite all the noise around them.

8:02 p.m. – Back to the patio: This time, Matthew Perry and Zach Braff share a big laugh about three hours into the show.

8:11 p.m. – As soon as the show wraps, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner make a beeline for the NBC party.

8:43 p.m. – Brad and Angelina – with their arms wrapped around one another – exit via the red carpet.
