If the Oscars ooze formality and the Golden Globes scream party, what should we make of Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards (at 8 p.m. ET on TNT and TBS)?

A little of both – a dash of class and only a little crass, with actors from movies and TV table-hopping at a dinner ceremony at L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium, followed by a party in a hydrangea-scented tent with music from John Legend.

Since a snub of SAG is a snub of one's union brothers and sisters, look for the biggest names to show: nominees Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Will Smith, Helen Mirren and Eddie Murphy will join newcomer nominees Jennifer Hudson, Rinko Kikuchi, Adriana Barraza and Abigail Breslin.

And Oscar watchers take note: The SAG Awards are often a reliable predictor for the Academy Awards a month later. Last year, SAG victors Philip Seymour Hoffman, Reese Witherspoon and Rachel Weisz all got Oscars, as did the movie Crash, which had picked up the SAG equivalent of a best picture trophy with a cast award.

This year's SAG cast nominees, unlike the Oscars, include Dreamgirls, making this the last shot at award glory for the musical that also won a Golden Globe. Other nominated casts include Babel, Little Miss Sunshine, The Departed and Bobby.

With television also honored, look for the small-screen stars to share red carpet space with their movie colleagues. 24 and Grey's Anatomy are the favorites for drama, and Desperate Housewives will do battle with The Office for comedy cast honors.
