Arm-Candy Watch: John's Imaginary Friend?

Just when we thought there'd be a new couple walking the Grammys red carpet – nominee
John Mayer and
his own Lil' Miss Sunshine,
Jessica Simpson, who's been hanging out with him on his Florida tour – we saw this! The
Continuum singer strolling with his arm cradling ... his imaginary friend? An invisible girlfriend? Air?!? This is not a good look for anyone, but especially so when there's the potential of seeing Simpson there in a really fabulous dress. So, John, c'mon, give us a sign, a wave, anything besides this arm crook, that you'll fill this space with someone special (like, say, Simpson) by Grammy night on Feb. 11. You might even get a two-for-one deal, and we don't mean Ashlee. Simpson BFF and hair stylist Ken Paves is probably standing ready with hairspray, and, we suspect, could do a thing or two with
your mop too. But first, you have to say goodbye to your imaginary friend ...
