Caught in the Act: Grammy Parties Edition!

John Mayer, planting a tender, sweet kiss on Jessica Simpson when she arrived at the Sony BMG Post-Grammy Party at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and later stroking her back and holding her hand in the cabana that also housed Simpson's sister Ashlee and others. Champagne flowed and Mayer lip-synched Terence Trent D'Arby's "Wishing Well" to Jess. And the Dixie Chicks, John Legend and Carrie Underwood feasted on crab legs, roast beef and raspberry tarts in the white-themed bash (calla lilies, white cabanas, white seating) while Chris Daughtry, spent the entire night roaming the ballroom and trying to take photos with celebrities.
Leonardo DiCaprio, sporting a baseball cap and smoking in the special patio area of the William Morris Agency post-Grammy party at a Bel Air mansion. With loud reggae, hip-hop and classic rock songs from DJ Adam 12, the gathering featured an on-premises Pink's hot dog stand and Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale, Akon, Common and Natalie Cole making the scene. Diddy made a grand entrance with two bodyguards around 12 a.m., but, this being L.A., people seemed too cool to care.
Vanessa Minnillo, giving boyfriend Nick Lachey a lap dance to Tony Yayo's "I Know You Don't Love Me" at the XM Satellite post-Grammy soiree hosted by Queen Latifah, Ludacris and Terrence Howard at Social Hollywood. Also whooping it up – and indulging in pineapple, pomegranate and cranberry margaritas from the Margarita King and Ecstasy vodka cocktails: Ryan Phillippe, Kevin Federline, Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams and pregnant My Name Is Earl star Jaime Pressly.
Mandy Moore, reviewing her favorite Grammy outfits at EMI's post-Grammy party at Hollywood's Boulevard 3. "I loved the Dixie Chicks," she told us. "They could do no wrong in my book, like musically, stylistically." (And of her own vintage ensemble: "I bought this (dress) two weeks at the flea market in Paris with nothing in mind. I just I liked the dress.") American Idol judge Randy Jackson did some assessing of his own, too. "Carrie who?" he joked about Carrie Underwood. "Best new artist, yes. Love her. She's got the biggest Idol album debut record ever. Five million copies now. It continues to validate the show." OK GO, Natasha Bedingfield and KT Tunstall also made the scene.
Sting and Police drummer Stewart Copeland, cursing in a mock spat at the Grammy Salute to Industry Icons afterparty at the Los Angeles Convention Center. "What tour?" Sting demanded about the much-discussed reunion of the band. And Copeland admitted he was nervous that the reformed group would "screw up completely," but ended up happy with their show-opening rendition of "Roxanne." "We came away thinking, 'Hey, we did pretty good' " he told us.
