Let the pilgrimage begin! The stars are landing in L.A. (
Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams and baby
Matilda were spotted just the other day hauling luggage) as Oscars weekend kicks off – and they aren't flying coach. Bellinis, truffles and other perks are the norm for VIPs. On Jet Aviation Business Jets (pictured), a private plane company catering to celebs, producers and fashion designers, in-flight hair and makeup, free-range chicken, gluten-free bread, white asparagus, Cuban cigars, any requested vintage of wine, hotel and restaurant reservations in L.A., and ground transportation are all available to passengers. "We get asked for just about everything," says Bob Seidel, the company's senior vice president and general manager. Hmm ... Everything? "We're not a dating service, but we provide all of the material creature comforts." Stars who want all the perks of a private flight – without the cost – turn to United Airlines P.S. (premium service), which flies only between New York and Los Angeles. First-class fliers relax in seats that turn into beds and can watch personal DVD players. Even the Academy's biggest star flies on United – Mr. Oscar himself. All of the 50 or so statuettes awarded to Oscar winners are flown on the airline to L.A. from Chicago, where they are manufactured.
