Most Beautiful Surgeon
Nicknamed Dr. McDreamy on Grey's Anatomy, Dempsey makes PEOPLE's 50 Most Beautiful list. Among the star's biggest fans is his daughter Talula. "One day [she] said, 'You're very handsome, Poppy,'" Dempsey tells PEOPLE. "That was the best compliment ever." The handsome star makes the list again in 2006 and 2007, while being named one of Hollywood's Sexiest Men Alive, giving cred to his hair. "It's my biggest asset and my biggest flaw," he tells PEOPLE. "It takes hours to look like it hasn't been studied."

Award Recognition
For his work on Grey's, Dempsey is nominated for a lead actor Golden Globe. Although he doesn't win (that honor goes to Hugh Laurie of House), Dempsey's star continues to rise. In 2007, the actor is nominated and loses again to Laurie, but Grey's takes home the best TV drama Golden Globe and a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series (pictured with costars Kate Walsh, Chandra Wilson, Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl and Justin Chambers).
Trouble on the Set
An argument breaks out between Dempsey and costar Isaiah Washington while taping Grey's Anatomy. The two clash when Washington allegedly uses a homophobic slur in reference to costar T.R. Knight. Words are exchanged but no punches. "Our faces are too beautiful for that," Washington tells PEOPLE before leaving the show after its third season.

Double Daddy Duty
Dempsey's wife gives birth to twin boys named Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick. "Now, making money is about providing for my children," he tells Life. "And being a father makes you look at yourself. You look at your marriage and go, 'How do I improve this? How do I keep growing and create a stable environment for my children?' "
Dempsey's Enchanted
Dempsey stars with Amy Adams (right) in the family-friendly, live-action-meets-animation hit Enchanted. The film, which combines a classic Disney fairytale with the reality of modern-day New York City, opens at No. 1. While shooting the Disney blockbuster in Times Square, director Kevin Lima recalls, "Women kept yelling for Patrick. They would shout 'We love you Dr. McDreamy.'"

Dempsey's McDreamy Versace Ads
Dempsey lends his hallmark charm and handsome looks to Versace. The ads, shot by fame photographer Mario Testino, features Dempsey in classic Versace men's suits. "I discovered that Patrick is a man who is not afraid to like or even love fashion," Donatella Versace, co-chairman and chief designer, tells DNR. "He's got extremely refined taste." She goes on to say that he is the perfect expression of the new Versace man.
