George Clooney, Gerard Butler & Olivia Wilde Sign On for War Films (& More Casting News)
Perhaps that's why George Clooney, Gerard Butler, Olivia Wilde have all signed on to play characters tested during times of conflict.
Clooney co-writes, directs and stars in The Monuments Men, a film set during World War II, Zimbio reports. Daniel Craig and Cate Blanchett have also signed on to the project.
The Monuments Men revolves around the true stories of the Monuments, Fine Arts and Archives program, which stole back art from the Nazis who infamously destroyed works and other valuables while in power.
In Dynamo, Butler will bring a historic soccer game to life, Deadline reports. The adaptation of the novel Dynamo: Defending The Honour of Kiev is based on the real life match between a Ukrainian soccer team under Nazi control and their German competitors. Butler will play Nikolai Trusevich, the Ukrainian goalie who lifted his country's spirits.
Wilde will star in The Keeping Room, a Civil War era film,Deadline reports. Hailee Steinfeld and Nicole Beharie are also slated to appear. The story follows two sisters and a slave who protect their home from Union Army soldiers during the final days of the war.

Josh Duhamel and Emmy Rossum will star alongside Hilary Swank in You're Not You, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the movie adaptation of Michelle Wildgen's book, Rossum plays a college student who takes care of Swank, whose character suffers from Lou Gehrig's disease.
Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Cobie Smulders will reprise their respective roles as Nick Fury, Black Widow and Agent Maria Hill in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, FirstShowing reports. The movie comes to theaters April 14, 2014.
