BOBBI KRISTINA BROWN: SURPRISE ENGAGEMENT

Though she suffered a breakdown the day of her mother's death – Feb. 11, 2012 – the 19-year-old has since started to recover, making appearances on behalf of her mom, opening up to Oprah and even joining a Tyler Perry comedy (she later backed out). However, rumors of an engagement to her "adopted brother/boyfriend," Nick Gordon (pictured), caused controversy, and her family continues to worry about her well-being.

BOBBY BROWN: REMARRIED & REHABBED

"Beside himself" with grief following his ex-wife's death, Brown faced legal trouble in March 2012 when he was arrested on a DUI charge. Things turned around when he married fiancée Alicia Etheredge in Hawaii last June, but two months later he found himself in rehab, and two months after that, received his second drunk-driving charge of the year.

CISSY HOUSTON: WROTE A BOOK ABOUT WHITNEY

Staying relatively quiet following her daughter's death – save for one moving tribute performance at the July 2012 BET Awards (left) – Cissy broke her silence in January 2013, releasing a book, Remembering Whitney, that touched on her heartbreak and hope for her child. "I want people to know the truth about her," Cissy told PEOPLE. "What a good person she was."

PAT HOUSTON: STARRED IN A REALITY SERIES

Houston's sister-in law and manager has served as a mouthpiece for the family since Whitney's death, appearing on talk shows and speaking to the media about the star's posthumous projects and the family's controversial (and critically panned) reality show. "We're not a unique family," she told ABC News of the series in October. "[We're] a family that wants to stay together … through this grieving process."

CLIVE DAVIS: HONORING A FRIEND

Music exec Davis paid tribute to his dear friend and mentee during last year's pre-Grammys bash and plans to do the same this year. He also helped with a Feb. 9 television special dedicated to the diva, The Grammys Will Go On: A Death in the Family. "I wanted her special to be meaningful and touching," Davis told PEOPLE. "I'm a great believer in carrying the torch and making sure that her legacy is as glittering as it should be."

BRANDY & RAY J: TRIBUTES & TEARS

Ray J, "an extremely close friend" of Houston, "couldn't hold it together" in the days after her death and fell off the radar in the months following. His sister, Brandy, also a friend and mentee, performed at Whitney's BET Awards tribute last summer, dedicated her recent Two Eleven album to the late star and unrelatedly, got engaged in December 2012.

WHITNEY HOUSTON: THE LEGEND LIVES ON

Despite her death, Houston's legacy is very much alive. Her final film, Sparkle, hit theaters in August 2012; a greatest hits album was released that November; a candle line inspired by the star, Marion P, continues to sell; and a biopic is reportedly in the works. Just days before the one-year anniversary of her passing at age 48, Madame Tussauds immortalized Houston, unveiling four wax figures of the star (left), which will be seen in D.C., Hollywood, New York City and Las Vegas. "She truly was The Voice," Pat Houston told reporters. "She was a matchless woman when it came to her life and legacy."
