There's an important lesson to be learned from this look: If you're going to wear all-white out of the house, opt for something in faux leather (it's way easier to clean than other materials). Of course, there are other lessons, too: Coordinating separates – these are Monica Rose for Lovers + Friends – are a must-try, and teal is best served up in small doses (see: Taylor's Monique Lhuillier heels).

We know teaming a crop top with a coordinating flippy mini isn't novel, but Taylor does it so well with her Alice + Olivia separates (and bright accessories), that we had to give her props. (And to see every amazing street style look the singer's worn this summer, pick up this week's issue of PEOPLE!)

This is what the star wore to introduce her new kitten to Instagram, but are we the only ones more interested in the fashion than the feline? We're just really into the fact that she stepped out of her comfort zone and wore a crop top and flippy mini (Aqua for Bloomingdale's) and non-old-timey Miu Miu shoes.

TAYLOR SWIFT & JOE JONAS
The rising stars set hearts aflutter when they attended the September 2008 ceremony together – only to call it quits a month later. The country songstress was reportedly dumped on a 27-second phone call from Jonas, and then, of course, was inspired to pen one of her many post-breakup hits, this one called "Forever and Always."
TAYLOR SWIFT'S DRESS
"I'm not a preppy dresser, but I'd totally wear this shirtdress with my favorite ankle boots." – Whitney
We hear you: A little bit of gingham can go a long way, but you better act fast if you want the superstar's pretty Cynthia Rowley design. It's on sale and will probably sell out fast.
Katy Perry said it best when she compared Kanye West's 2009 antics to stepping on a kitten. To recap: West famously ran up on stage, snatched the microphone from a shocked Taylor Swift, who'd just beat out Beyoncé for best female video, and took over the speech. "I'm really happy for you, I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," he declared as the speechless audience looked on.
Better from the back? We have no way of knowing since Taylor posted just one Instagram from her Easter trip to this mystery beach, but we can vouch for the fact that she looks damn good in her light-colored, two-piece from this angle.
Not even a country awards show can escape the crop top trend. Taylor is smokin' hot in an abs-revealing shrunken white cutout tee, a high-waist maxi with a major slit (both my J. Mendel), plus chic strappy Casadei sandals.

Taylor Swift continued to bring country music to the masses with the October 2012 release of Red, which sold a record-setting 1.2 million copies in its first week and became the fastest-selling album in a decade. "My mind frame during this recording process … was the ups and downs of a few really tumultuous relationships," she said, proving that heartbreak really is the universal language.
For an urban rooftop "picnic" with Dunham, Taylor Swift didn't lie down on a blanket – she wrapped it around herself! Though there were no visible signs of food (or grass, ants or Frisbees), the singer apparently had a ball, giving an Instagram shout-out to her pal on May 13, when the Girls' star turned 28. "Happy Birthday to my favorite person to have picnics with. the magical, kind-hearted, wondrous @lenadunham."
If their friendship ever turns into a professional collaboration, you think Swift could fill in for Mrs. Dunphy on Modern Family? "We decided we were dressed like a strait-laced mom and her rebellious teen daughter," Swift wrote on Instagram after clocking in some quality time with Hyland. "#YouDontUnderstandMeMom!!! #StormsOut #ComeBackHere,YoungLady!"
And Kloss isn't the only Victoria's Secret Angel still hanging with Swift after buddying up at last year's fashion show: Aldridge showed the singer some serious moves – though they weren't on the catwalk. "Lily, giving me major Audrey Hepburn vibes, while schooling me at pool," Swift wrote on Instagram.
Also hitting the kitchen with Swift: Garten, the Barefoot Contessa, whom she described as her "HERO." She spent the day in the Hamptons cooking with the Food Network star – "how bad could that be?" she added.
And the gold medal for cutest besties ever goes to … Swift and the figure skater, who documented their girlie hangout on Instagram. "First we baked a bunch of cookies and then we made faces," wrote Swift, who also rooted on Gold while the bronze medalist was competing in Sochi earlier in the year.
DEMI & SELENA
We can't tell if they're talking about boys or beauty secrets, but we're just jealous we weren't invited to Lovato and Gomez's December FaceTime date with Swift. "Just a Saturday night," Gomez teased on Instagram.
Is there anyone more qualified than Swift to show a music industry newcomer the ropes? So it's no surprise she hit it off with Lorde – dream duet partner, ay? – when the 17-year-old arrived on the scene. Lorde even described Swift as one of the only young musicians with "real teenage voices," and the freshly minted besties have made time in their busy schedules for beach trips and birthday celebrations.
Whatcha got cooking? Swift found a sweet companion (and sous-chef!) in Osbourne during an October "#GirlsNight" spent baking, the E! star wrote on Instagram. "You guys have no idea how good Taylor is at cooking! #shocked."
Friend – or fan Girl? Girls star Dunham enjoyed her backstage access to Swift's March tour stop, which she dubbed the "most life-affirming thing I've experienced (NOT hyperbole)." Before heading to Newark, N.J., to catch the show with her crew (including model Jessica Stam), Dunham praised the Red singer on Twitter, "If [Swift had] been here when I was in college, I would have written papers on her, not Sylvia Plath."
Spotted! Former Gossip Girl star Szohr shared some "#goodtimes" with Swift and some pals in a series of photos she posted in May. But it's not all play for the gal pals: The singer put Szohr to work in her music video for "22," which featured her "real-life best friends," she told Good Morning America in March. "I never had this much fun shooting a video."
Talk about a French connection! "Had the best day off in Paris, meandering around, laughing hysterically," Swift wrote after her très chic January outing with Steinfeld.
Red, white and ooh la la! Swift showed off her patriotic pride – and bikini bod – on the Fourth of July, which she spent with her "touring family," including pal Amanda, she wrote on her blog. On their to-do list? A scavenger hunt-style game, dancing and face paint, of course!
