Tori Spelling: Snapshot

Tori Spelling
Date of Birth
May 16, 1973
Birth Place
Los Angeles, Calif.
Through the '90s, Tori Spelling was known as TV's most famous virgin – which is what happens when your father, legendary TV producer Aaron Spelling, casts you in his hit show, Beverly Hills, 90210, and refuses to let you be deflowered on air for seven long years.

Though nepotism made her a star, Spelling's determination and self-deprecating wit endeared her to audiences on 10 seasons of 90210. After her father's death in 2006, she weathered a well-publicized rift with her mother, Candy, but the birth of Spelling's son, Liam, with second husband Dean McDermott brought the estranged mother and daughter closer together.

Spelling, whose books have hit the New York Times bestseller list, is also mom to daughters Stella and Hattie and son Finn.

Tori Spelling: Five Fun Facts

  1. Tori Spelling's childhood Halloween costumes were custom-made by Dynasty costume designer Nolan Miller, who once created 18th-century French court costumes for the entire family. "The Halloween costumes taught me a lot about how to wear heels at an early age," Spelling said. "Since they don't make children's high heels, Uncle Nolan found some at a midget store."
  2. Tori Spelling was one of five Beverly Hills, 90210 cast members to have a Mattel doll (Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, and Ian Ziering didn't get the honor). "I'd be embarrassed if little girls undressed me," Spelling told PEOPLE.
  3. Tori Spelling has a famous drag queen look-alike, Suppositori Spelling. "I love drag queens and they love me," she told Entertainment Weekly.
  4. Tori Spelling's beloved pug Mimi La Rue – who died in June 2008 – was a fashionista with her own wardrobe. "She comes screaming down the hallway and twirls around until you put her clothing on," Spelling said.
  5. Nearly 60 people lined up at 6:30 a.m. to attend Tori Spelling's two-day garage sale in 2006. "I'm having the sale because we're moving and my taste has changed," Spelling said. Items sold: signed Beverly Hills, 90210 scripts ($100), her dog's shampoo ($20), and a used Sephora lip gloss ($1).
