Rebecca Loos, Beckham's former personal assistant, claims to have had an affair with Beckham. Although Beckham denies all allegations, calling them "ludicrous," the British tabloids dedicate several pages to the scandal, tarnishing the couples' image. A week later, a string of women present their own stories (and racy text messages) to the tabloids of their respective affairs with the soccer star. "The simple truth is that I am very happily married, have a wonderful wife and two very special kids," Beckham says in a statement. "They were the paradigm of a golden couple, and now everyone's saying they're not so golden after all," a friend says to PEOPLE. "But Victoria wants to stay married to David. She loves him deeply."
Posh partners with Rock & Republic for her premium denim line called "VB Rocks". This venture includes an 11-in. miniskirt so short, you have to "be careful how you get in and out of cars," Posh tells PEOPLE. In 2006, she also releases a line of sunglasses, a his-and-her fragrance line called "Intimately Beckham," and designs her own jean collection called dVb denim.
Posh and David welcome Cruz David to their family. He is born via Caesarean section in Madrid, and immediately causes a stir like a true Beckham. Cruz, which is traditionally a girl's name, warrants the Guardian to ask: "Trend-setting moniker or crashing blunder by Posh and Becks?" Baby Cruz joins big brothers Brooklyn, 6, and Romeo, 2.
Posh is photographed shoe shopping at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills with an expecting Katie Holmes, future wife of movie star Tom Cruise. A budding friendship ensues. After giving birth to baby Suri, Holmes joins Posh on shopping trips to Paris during fashion week. "We have a really great time together," Holmes tells PEOPLE.
The British are coming! David, 31, signs a five-year deal with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy – worth a potential $250 million – which moves the Beckhams to the States. In July, Posh stars in her own NBC special, Victoria Beckham: Coming to America. The hour-long event chronicles her time in L.A. as she prepares for her family's arrival. Also, in August, with David, Posh appears on the cover of W with a set of steamy photos.
Posh once told the Sunday Mirror, "I'm never going to sing again, unless it was a chance to do something with the Spice Girls." And the time has come. The pop girl group announces plans to release a greatest-hits album and an 11-show world tour in December. "We are going to celebrate the past, do a small tour and that will probably be it," Beckham says. "Our priority is our families." In December, the band kicks off their world tour in Vancouver.
In an episode titled "A Nice Day for a Posh Wedding," Posh appears as herself on ABC's hit comedy, Ugly Betty. Poking fun at her over-the-top image, she acts as Wilhelmina Slater's (played by Vanessa Williams, right) maid of honor, who makes Slater's wedding day all about her.
After their greatest-hits CD hits Victoria's Secret stores, all five of the Spice Girls perform for the first time in 10 years at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. "I wanted my children to see that Mummy was a pop star," Victoria says of bidding a final farewell to the girl group.
After dabbling in numerous fashion collaborations, Victoria finally branches out on her own, unveiling her first dress collection. "The collection was inspired by the femininity and sophistication of the midcentury silhouette," she tells WWD of her line, which eventually appears on A-listers Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz. "I’ve always been drawn to intricate, seam-detailed designs, as their structure enhances the flattering shape of a woman’s silhouette."
